About Us

Our Mission

To help women and their families improve and enrich their personal and professional lives through education, support services, networking and community resources.

What We Do

The Women’s Resource Center was established in 1991 to address the need for programs and services specifically for women in Alamance County and to provide a center conveniently located to serve as a clearinghouse for information for all women in the community. The Women’s Resource Center in Alamance County is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt non profit organization that serves Alamance County as well as parts of the surrounding counties of Caswell, Person, Orange and Guilford.

The Women’s Resource Center’s services include the New Choices Program that provides individual peer counseling and workshops for displaced homemakers and dislocated workers to assist them in making and executing a plan for self-sufficiency. Programs and networking opportunities for women in business include our successful Working Women’s Wednesday series. Growing Up and Liking It parenting programs for adolescents and their parents foster communication at this very vulnerable and important time in a child’s upbringing. Education and advocacy programs such as the Women’s Agenda Assembly and Women’s Advocacy Day address public policies affecting women and their families. Other programs for specific interests of our membership including reading, finance, cooking, gardening and theater are offered and facilitated by volunteers from the community and our Board of Directors.
